At Hoosier Fence Company, we offer two types of wood fencing – cedar and pine. Pine (or pressure-treated pine) can have many different top cuts and heights. The pine pickets are pressure-treated to protect against rot and decay using MCA (Micronized Copper Azole) which is EPA-approved, safe for environment, and pets. Pine typically costs less than other fence building materials and is a popular choice for it’s affordability. However, treated pine is more prone to shrinkage and warpage compared to cedar.
Cedar Fencing is a popular fence material because it does not need to be treated with chemicals. Its natural oils help preserve and protect your fence from insects as well as decay. Like all unfinished wood, cedar does fade in color and is susceptible to natural curing.
